Description
Photograph of three Hopi Indian women weaving baskets in the village of Oraibi, ca.1901. They are sitting in a semicircle in front of an adobe dwelling. Grass for weaving and partially completed baskets are sitting on the ground beside them. Other people in the image include four small children, two maidens who wear their hair up in two rolls on each side of their heads, and about five others. Something is hanging (to dry?) from a pole suspended under the eaves of the dwelling above their heads.
