Description
Photograph of people planting onions on the Petit Ranch in the San Fernando Valley near Van Nuys, February 3, 1930. A group of people sit or kneel around the onion beds in the foreground, engaging in various planting-related activities. A wooden box sits filled in the center of the foreground, and another can be found further down by a small child and a few of the workers. In the distance, a line of trees and houses can be seen before the outline of a mountainside. Two hundred acres were planted in onions, and about 150 Mexicans did the planting.
