Description
Photograph of the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe, near Mexico City, Mexico, ca.1900. The tall ornate structure is surrounded by tall trees. Only the central dome and towers rise above the tree line. The peak of a tent in front of the church is visible in the trees as is a broad path which leads toward it. Other similar tents are visible at right where large crowds of people are visible. A few other buildings are also visible in the background at right.; "The Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe near Mexico City, which contains the most sacred relic, The Indian's Tilma with the miraculous painting of the Virgin upon it. The Basilica where the Government's proclamation was recently torn down by the 17 year old heiress causing her arrest." (ca.1900?)
