Description

Photograph of an exterior view of the Olympic Auditorium, 1801 South Grand Avenue, January 1930. A wide street lies across the foreground with several automobiles parked along its far side. Electrical poles and lamp posts also stand along the sidewalk across the street. Behind them stands the large, concrete auditorium. The entrance stands at right while a small Coca Cola stand stands next to the auditorium at left. More buildings stand down the street in the right background.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
