Description
Photograph of over 50,000 acres growing lettuce in the Salinas Valley, Monterey County, 1933. The short plants with wide leaves lie in pairs of rows at center and continue in a sea of lettuce into the distance. After each pair of rows lies a ditch of soil which appears to be cracked and dry. Trees surround a community of houses which can be seen faintly in the background.
