Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the Japanese Fancy Goods store and Employment office in Downtown, Los Angeles, ca. 1890. This one-story building is sandwiched between brick apartment buildings. Utility poles and lines are visible. Two men are walking on the sidewalk in front. A horse-drawn carriage is at far right. The sign above the main entrance reads, "Japanese Fancy Goods. Employment Office". Once misattributed as Governor Pio Pico's office when he was governor of California and Los Angeles was state Capitol.
