Description
Photograph of an exterior view of Los Angeles City Hall, built in 1888, on Broadway, taken from Mrs. Locke's house across the street, ca.1890. The four-story stone structure has a main entryway through three arches at the top of a wide stairway. Groups of tall ventilation pipes extend above the roof (right, and on the top crest, and in the main slope). A square tower at left is higher than the rest of the building. High up on near the roof is the inscription "A.D. MDCCCLXXXVIII". One pedestrian is on the sidewalk. The street is empty.
