Description
Photograph of a house, the Huffing residence, with its gable fully covered in the branches and leaves of a wisteria tree, Los Angeles, ca.1920. The vines (or branches) are trimmed around the windows. The vines have also covered porches ceiling and surrounded the window above the porch. Various types of plants in vases decorate the porch. The house number "2129" appears on the post to the right of the stairs that lead to the porch.; "The deciduous trees or large shrubs are native to China and Japan. P. hispida, commonly known as the Epaulette Tree or Wisteria Tree, can be grown as a bush with a height of up to 12 feet or a tree, growing up to 50 feet high. The Epaulette Tree is covered in oblong leaves up to 8 inches in length. These trees begin to blossom when they are 8 to 10 feet high. In early summer, fragrant, creamy white flowers are borne in suspended clusters 4 to 9 inches long. These are followed by fuzzy seedpods that persist on the branches well into the winter." -- unknown author.
