Description
Photograph of people bending over to plant onions on the Petit Ranch in the San Fernando Valley near Van Nuys, February 3, 1930. Several people bend with their faces towards the ground, each planting onions into beds set in the soil. In the background, a group of more people spreads out across the land, each engaging in similar activity. Mountains can be seen beyond the utility-pole lined background and house-like structures in the background. Two hundred acres were planted in onions, and about 150 Mexicans did the planting.
