Description

Photograph of an exterior view of the Olympic Auditorium, 1801 South Grand Avenue, January, 1930. The large, concrete building stands at center with electrical poles along the street in front of it and automobile parked along the street beside it at right. The building has many doors with an awning over its main entrance at left. It has some, but not many, tiny windows. Palm trees stand down the street in the far left while buildings stand down the street at right.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
