Description
Photograph of a Hopi Indian mother and daughter sitting outside, ca.1900. They both sit with hands clasped on their laps and their barefeet together flat on the ground. The mother wears a bright print cloth about her shoulders over a long dark dress. The daughter wears a blanket across her right shoulder over a light shirt and long dark skirt. Her hair is worn in large buns at the side of her head. They are sitting beside an adobe dwelling. Other dwellings are visible in the background.
