Description
Photograph of exterior view of the south side of Mission San Gabriel, 1900, showing the bell tower and a line of ten thick capped buttresses providing structure for the wall. The belfry stands about two-stories tall and has six visible arched openings, in one of which a bell is visible. Two crosses are perched on top of the mission, one on the belfry and the other at the peak of the front of the church roof (right). In front of the mission is a row of palm trees, shrubs and pepper trees(?). Two hitching posts stand next to the dirt roadway. Two sets of streetcar rails cross obliquely in roadway. A utility pole and lines have been blacked out of the image. A sign on the pole reads "Beware"....
