Description
Photograph of the Indian village of Mission San Luis Rey de Francia, California, ca.1891-1899. The village is located about two miles east of the mission itself. Three structures are visible. At left is a small rectangular building with stick walls and a canted wood single roof. In the middle is a larger barn-like building with stick walls and a peaked thatched roof. This building has a rough wooden corral-like fence extending to the right of it. A blanket and a coil of rope hang on the fence. Further back at right is the third building, a small rectangular dwelling with stick walls and peaked thatched roof. A low hill is in the background.
