Description
Photograph of the construction site of the Imperial Canal head gate apron on the Colorado River, Sharps, ca.1903. Wood forms, scaffolds, wood frames, cranes and ladders make the work area quite busy. A row of ten wheels along the top control water flow. A generator sits in a crude corrugated metal shelter at bottom center. About 20 men are working at various things around the site. Several buildings are visible in the distant background at right. The water is visible at the extreme left.
