Description
Photograph of a Navajo Indian hogan with ramada, ca.1900. The mud hogan, shaped like an inverted cone, has an opening in the top to allow smoke from fire to escape. The ramada, or covered porch-like structure, connected at left, is constructed from large timber posts holding up a thatched roof. Two women with children can be seen seated near the large barrel beneath the ramada. The desert is visible in the background.
