Description
Photograph of a massive smokestack beside the exterior of an unidentified factory, ca.1950. At center, a huge cylindrical smokestack is visible extending far into the sky. The large base of the smokestack is lightly-colored, but the tip as well as a small ring near the bottom is darkly-colored. Near the center of the smokestack on the right, a small structure can be seen. At the base of the smokestack, several small structures and various materials can be seen. To the right of the smokestack, a large cliff can be seen. At the bottom of the cliff, several machines work near two large walls in the shape of rings. To the left of the smokestack, a large structure is visible. Metallic beams and rails support various parts of the structure, and two small smokestacks can be seen behind one of the buildings. In the extreme foreground, railroad cars can various types of equipment sit on several railroad tracks. In the background to the right, a body of water is visible near the cliff lined with utility poles. In the extreme background, an elongated building can be seen amid numerous small hills filled with sparse vegetation.
