Description
Photograph of Navajo Indian family living in ancient cliff dwellings, Canyon de Chelly, Arizona, 1903. A man sitting on a burro can be seen to the left of center, while five children are visible near the ruin of a stone cliff-dwelling at center. Behind the man, a series of wooden poles can be seen near a small brick wall along the cliff. Various sacks and pots can be seen near the feet of the children. In the foreground, a woman can be seen sitting on the ground near large rocks and brush. Another burro stands at left. The sharply inward sloping cliff face casts shadow on part of the dwelling.
