Description
Photographic portrait of Dona Ana Maria de la Guerra, [s.d.]. De la Guerra is shown from her torso to her head with her body turned to the left. She is wearing a dark dress with a dark hood that covers her head and reveals only her face and part of her hand. She was born at the Pueblo de Los Angeles on November 6, 1821 and died in Santa Barbara on November 22, 1856. She was the daughter of Jose Antonio de la Guerra y Noriega. Her baptismal name was Ana Maria de Alta Garcia Leonora and she married Alfred Robinson, the historian, at Santa Barbara on January 24, 1836. This was the wedding described by Dana in "Two Years Before the Mast".

Description
The nearly 15,000 unique photographs of this collection contain the work of C.C. Pierce which cover the Los Angeles region city, street and architectural views, California Missions, Southwestern Native Americans, and turn-of-century Nevada, Arizona, and California. Pierce, active from 1886 to 1940, was one of the leading photographers of his day and amassed a collection of 15,000 images, including his own and those bought and copied from his contemporaries, George Wharton James and Charles Puck. The James collection contains over 2,000 images of portraits, customs, ceremonies, arts, and games of various groups of Southwestern Native Americans.
