Description
Photograph of a birdseye view of Santa Monica Canyon looking south, ca.1910. There are several scattered small buildings lining the dirt roads in the foreground. On the cliffs in the distance at left, houses can be seen hiding behind tall trees and utility poles. A steep stairway leads up from the beach to the top of the cliff. The ocean is at right and there are gently breaking waves. Legible signs include, from left, "Accessories Oil and Gas", "Byer Rockery", "Tiptoe Inn", "Hot Dogs Hamburgers Lee's Real Chili", "Ice Cream Cold Drinks Red Hot Hamburger Sandwiches", "Public Service Station", and "Canyon Bath house".
