Description
Photograph of four men standing in front of the ruins of Mission San Miguel, ca.1876. Four men in what appear to be work clothes are pictured in the distance, standing in a row in front of the long, two-story building of the mission. Several of the terracotta tiles have slipped from the roof, while much of the spackle has chipped or eroded off the walls, showing the bare adobe bricks. A small connecting bridge to the right, also made of adobe, spans the gap between the main building and a smaller, secondary adobe building, to which a third, wooden building is adjacent. Hills can be made out indistinctly in the left background.
