Description
Photograph of the San Fernando Mission in disrepair, shown from the west, ca.1890. A wagon stands at center, equipped with railing that suggests it was meant to haul large loads. Farther back and to the right, wooden pallets can be seen on the ground. In the background, the adobe buildings of the mission are visible. To the left, a two-story long house, most likely the chapel, stands with its roof unshingled and collapsing in spots. All of the spackle is gone from its adobe walls. This is connected to the next building by an adobe wall, which is also loosing bricks from its top. The next building is roofless, while to the far right, a third structure retains some of its roof shingles, but not all. Picture file card reads "Porter brothers' farming outfit".
