Title Portrait of Chief Genazio Cabezon and his captains, a Cahuilla Indian group, ca.1891
Description Photographic portrait of Chief Genazio Cabezon and his captains, a Cahuilla Indian group, ca.1891. Eight men are pictured in two rows with the front seated and the back standing. A man who appears to be Mexican sits at center with a long white beard wearing a suit and holding a cane. Other men of similar dress and look fill out the rest of the group, save for a man to the far left in the first row, who wears a jacket and a kerchief. This Cabazon is the son of the Cabazon who met Don Benito Wilson at Agua Caliente (Palm Springs) in 1845. Writing along the bottom of the image reads "Chief Genazio Cabezon and his Captains / Left to right -- Murina Torres / Wm. Pablo Kawili / Arguello -- Jose Maria Mor[z]egus / Cabazon / Santos Manuel / Solveraño".
