Description
Photograph of the interior of the Curtiss-Wright Corporation airplane factory in Buffalo, NY, ca.1940. Several men stand around a Curtiss P-40 Warhawk plane under construction in the foreground, with one man seated at the cockpit. Several other planes stand behind the first, and another row can be seen at left. Rows of airplane parts can be seen in the background. Photoprint reads: "North American P-51A's or P-40's ?". Note: Originally, the photograph was captioned as, "Interior of the North American Aviation airplane factory, ca.1940"; however, all the planes the photograph features are the P-40s, and all the P-40s ever produced were built at the Curtiss-Wright factory in Buffalo, New York.

Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960
Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
