Description
Photograph of a view down an unidentified road in Jamestown, California, showing the Hotel Willow, ca.1930. A row of near-identical two-story buildings is pictured to the left along the street, an elegant autombile parked in front of them just left of center. Farther in, one of these buildings sports the sign for the Hotel Willow, although its signs for "Draft Beer" and "Cold Beer" are much larger. This is the "Jimtown" of some of Bret Harte's stories. Many of the balconied houses still remain.
