Description
Photograph of the charred chapel entrance to the Mission Santa Clara after the fire of 1926. The arched entranceway is shown at center, part of the molding over it having detached from the wall and fallen to the ground, where the bricks can be seen smashed. Other bricks at the edges of the entrance are apparently missing, while the interior of the mission can be seen through its frame, similarly covered with rubble. The two wrought-iron fences that flank the doorway to either side appear to be the only architecture unscathed.
