In the right, a one-story building can be seen showing a sign above the entrance which reads: "Axelson Aircraft Engine Company". A parked automobile is noticeable next to it. In the left, another one-story building is partially visible which exposes long horizontal windows and a zigzagging roof; it sits behind a metallic net fence. Close by, an electric pole is standing by a dirt road which covers most of the foreground.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
