Several ladders lead up to different points on the plane, and a row of other aircrafts can be seen behind it.; Photoprint reads: "Super constellations take shape -- here is first super constellations production line photo, showing five of Lockheed aircraft corporation's new, larger transports streaming down final assembly hangar at Burbank, California. Wings, engines, tail assembly, landing gear and interior fittings are installed on this line. First of 113-foot-long luxury liners, designed for 88 passengers, is timed for delivery (to eastern air lines) in November, regular service on east coast in December. Military and airline orders for super constellations total nearly quarter-billion dollars".

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
