Description
Photographic portrait of Joaquin Miller and his daughter seated outdoors, [s.d.]. A slight, elderly man with a long white beard is pictured to the left of center seated in a chair and facing right. He wears a long coat and a hat which shades his eyes. A young woman in a blouse and darkly-colored skirt sits in a second chair to the right of Miller with her hands in her lap. Clothes appear to be hung from the branches of a tree in the background.; Joaquin Miller -- born in September of 1837 near Liberty, Indiana as Cinncinatus Hiner Miller -- was a minor poet and friend of the satirist Ambrose Bierce. He was know to be a flagrant liar who invented intricate life stories for himself and accomplishments designed to impress.
