Description
Photograph of a view of the original ranch home of the Ontiveros (Ontivares) family, Santa Maria River Valley (Kern County?), July 1938. A small, dilapidated one story building can be seen at center. One door and a few windows can be seen, while a wire fence runs in front of the building. What appear to be other buildings can be seen behind the first building. Trees and plants are visible, while dried grass can be seen in the foreground. Mountains are visible in the background. Photoprint reads: "Adobe in Santa Maria Valley of history little known but believed to be very old. Was one of the watering places along 'Camino Viejo a Los Angeles' from San Pedro to Oakland. Now occupied by a Bosque sheepman. This is the only adobe remaining within an area of many miles, has been considerably revamped from the original".
