Description
Photograph of the Lockheed Corporation plant in Burbank, January 27, 1929. A small, dark plane with a star on its back stands in a dusty field on the right while a group of men in suits and hats stand to the right. Long, lightly-colored buildings of the plant stand in the background on the left while a wide, arched hangar stands on the right. A row of electrical lines stands between the factory buildings and the hangar and continues out of view towards the mountains in the distance.

Title
Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960
Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
