Description
Photographic portrait of Kit Carson taken a few months before his death, 1867. Mr. Carson is pictured from the knees up sitting in a chair, with his wavy hair combed to the right. He wears a dark jacket, as well as a vest, which is unbuttoned at the center. His face, although gaunt, appears full and healthy. He wears a moustache and his eyes are focused and piercing. His eyebrows are almost imperceptible. He was Fremont's scout in California campaigns.
