Description
Photographic portrait of Frank and Lizzie Trapp and family, ca.1905. Three rows of family members are pictured: two young boys and girls are pictured in the first row, with one young girl sitting on the lap of an elder gentleman in the second row who is dressed in a suit. Farther center in the second row, a woman who appears to be in her early thirties sits in a dress, a slightly younger looking woman to her right. In the backmost row, four men stand, all but one of whom don moustaches.They are also wearing suits. A palm tree appears painted on the wall in the background.; Picture file card reads: "Mr. and Mrs. Trapp crossed the plains in 1847 and came to Los Angeles in the early (18)50's" and "Photo--Sunbeam, 2369 Main Street".

Description
The nearly 15,000 unique photographs of this collection contain the work of C.C. Pierce which cover the Los Angeles region city, street and architectural views, California Missions, Southwestern Native Americans, and turn-of-century Nevada, Arizona, and California. Pierce, active from 1886 to 1940, was one of the leading photographers of his day and amassed a collection of 15,000 images, including his own and those bought and copied from his contemporaries, George Wharton James and Charles Puck. The James collection contains over 2,000 images of portraits, customs, ceremonies, arts, and games of various groups of Southwestern Native Americans.
