Description Photograph of an interior view of the Ramo-Wooldridge Data Reduction Center in Los Angeles, 1950-1960. A line of computers lines the wall of the circular room at left. Four men in suits can be seen looking at displays and printed data. At right, a map of the computer can be seen on a large sign. Small rectangular lights run along the ceiling near the perimeter of the room. The center was operated as a function of Space Technology Laboratories, an autonomous division of the Ramo-Wooldridge Corporation and was used for converting telemtered missile and other performance data into useable form, a highly specialized field of technology.; Photoprint reads: "The Ramo-Wooldrige date reduction center, operated as a function of Space Technology Laboratories, an autonomous division of the Ramo-Wooldridge Corporation telemetered missile and other performance data into usable form, a highly specialized field of technology".

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
