Photograph of an interior view of the Lockheed Corporation plant, ca.1940. Planes in the foreground face vertically, with their cockpits toward the camera, whereas planes in the back stand in two rows, facing each other horizontally. A thin walkway lined with painted boundaries cuts through center, and several men can be seen on it in the background. Two plastic(?) egg-like devices can be seen right of the walkway, beside what appears to be an area full of plane parts.

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
