Description
Photograph of a vegetable market, Zacateca, Mexico, ca.1900. A woman and three children are huddled around a blanket spread on the floor. Vegetables of at least five varieties are spread out on the blanket. Also at their feet are various containers (jug, baskets, bowl, sprinkling can). A purchase is being transacted by a man in a sombrero, blanket, and sandals. In the background is a pile of full burlap bags. They appear to be indoors. A window and iron rail divider is visible behind them.
