Description
Photograph of the main street in El Dorado, ca.1930. There is a run-down brick building at left. It has several doorways and windows, as well as a long line of unidentified archways. There is dense foliage at center and right, and in the background at right, another building is visible. El Dorado was one of the famous camps of the 1850's. Down the empty street is the Hills Hotel, built from 1856 to 1857.; Photoprint reads: "El Dorado -- one of the famous camps of the '50s is almost gone. The burned out buildings stand like ghosts of the past, grass grows on the walks once trod by thousands. Down the empty street still stands the Hills Hotel, built in 1856-57".
