Description
Photograph of the main business street in Gold Hill, Nevada, ca.1900. The broad street is unpaved and is lined with buildings and utility poles on both sides. There are three people in the middle of the road, including a woman in the foreground carrying boxes, and a man and a child at center. There is a long two story adobe building at right with a covered porch and a balcony. Across the street, signs posted on a building advertise an event on "Fri Apr 20". In the distance, several hills are visible. Goldhill once had a population of thousands. Photoprint reads: "Most of the business houses and homes have vanished from here -- once having a population of thousands, very few are here today".
