Description
Photograph of an exterior view of The Cramer Hotel in Santa Cruz County, Felton, ca.1930. The large building is visible covered with lightly-colored wooden paneling and both of the two stories are contained by what appear to be white picket fences. The windows on the front porch of the house overlook two trees that stand taller than the house while the windows of an adjacent side of the house overlook a "Rabbits for sale" sign. In the foreground an automobile can be seen parked on the far left parked along a road just outside the front of the house.; Photo file card reads "The Cramer house in Felton is said to have been built in 1858 and was the main boarding house in the area used by loggers and teamsters. Prior to the 1920's the lower right section of the building was operated as a bee farm. This picture was taken in the late thirties when it was owned by B.N. Melson and operated as an apartment house. Note the concrete watering trough in front which was one of the few in the valley not made of wood. In the early forties the lower left of the building was a drug store and the lower right was a gift shop and the upper floor remained apartments. During the sixties present owner Roy Pagnini converted the lower floor into a beauty shot and restaurant which are currently occupied by A Villa of Beauty and Heavenly Hamburger".
