Photograph of a float in a parade, ca.1932. A float covered in flowers and leaves stands on a paved parking lot in the center while a large group of people gather around in a circle. The float has the words "Los Angeles" written out on the front while two flowery ox stand on top pulling a wagon. Palm trees can be seen amongst the crowd. A large paved street is visible in the right background.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
