Description
Photograph of a view of "D" Street in Virginia City, Nevada, ca.1930. Bushes sit on a rock wall that separates the old houses from the street. On the left a wood-paneled house stands with what appears to be a chimney on the back of the shingled roof. The view of the front and side of the house is obstructed by the skeletal trees that line the yard. Towards center on the right side of the house a staircase leads from the front porch through a brick wall and down to the dusty street where a small structure that appears to be a doghouse sits. Similar, lightly-colored houses line the street further down while a mountainside stands in the background. "The former homes of the aristocrats on 'D' Street, have now fallen into decay. And so has the street".
