Description
Photograph of a river crossing in Mormon Bar, ca.1930. The Mariposa river is very shallow at this point and the crossing is lined with smoothed stone. There is a man standing in the middle. In the background is a small wooden shed at the base of a tree-covered ridge. This crossing was used during the 1850s and 1860s by thousands of wagons on their way to Mother Lode mines.
