Description
Photograph of Mission Santa Barbara, showing interior of private chapel, California, 1898. The chapel was used for morning services and entered from the holy garden. In the extreme foreground, a portion of a pew and chair is visible. On top of the pew, a book can be seen. Additional pews are visible in the background at left. Along the adjacent wall, several small paintings depicting the Stations of the Cross can be seen near a large painting depicting the removal of Christ from the cross. In the background at right, a statue of a saint on a small table can be seen in the corner. To the right of the statue, a crucifix is visible above the chapel door.
