Description
Photograph of an old woman standing outside her adobe indian house at the Mission San Fernando, ca.1898. The woman is shown hunched over and sweeping behind a patch of tall grass to the right. Behind her, the buckling exterior of her adobe home is visible, its terracotta-tiled roof slanting downward at left, and a tall adobe wall extending from it to the right. Two chimneys are visible on the peak of the house. No spackle is evident, the walls showing bare brick. A post-and-rail fence is visible in the distance to the far left. The picture file card states that the woman was married nine times.
