Description
The community through the eyes of a child, Highland Park, Los Angeles, 1996-1997. Buchanan Street School, exterior entrance, 5024 Buchanan Street (at North Avenue 50), Highland Park. The mural was conceived as a part of a school addition by its architect (Chavez-Andonegui). It depicts the Highland Park neighborhood, designed from drawings by children at the school. Ceramic tile, 9 1/2' x 13 1/2', by Carlos Chavez-Andonegui and Richard Valdes. Sponsored by LACAD, York Avenue Chamber of Commerce, and student fundraising. -- Dunitz, Street gallery, rev. 2nd ed., p. 123, #22.
