Description
People sitting and reading, untitled mural, Pacoima, 1983. Vaughn Street School, exterior on school yard, 13330 Vaughn Street (at Herrick Avenue), Pacoima. People sitting and reading surrounded by bookshelves. Another (1988) supervised by Michael Wright is in the lunch area and shows a cavalcade of food people. Also, four more recent murals (1991-1992) under the direction of 3rd grade teacher Terry Pizinger are spread around the campus. They illustrate the school's various programs and include The Fantasy Forest and The Sports Mural. The Family Center is on the outside of a room that became a family resource center in April, 1992, funded by the United Way and the Los Angeles Educational Partnership. In an outside walkway is another mural designed by the school's principal (Dr. Yvonne Chan), illustrating the core curriculum at the school. -- Dunitz, Street gallery, p. 141, #28.
