Description
Panel 3 of 4 of Los Angeles circa 1870, 1910, 1960, and 2000, 1995-1996. Metropolitan Transit Authority headquarters building, interior lobby and mezzanine, Gateway Transit Center, Cesar Chavez Avenue at Vignes Street.. A grand look at our sprawling metropolis at different stages of its development. The year 1870, depicted in the large central panel was soon after the arrival of the railroad. The final panel (on the mezzanine level) is the artist's concept of the city of the future. 4 panels by James Doolin, assisted by James Feruzzi and Myles Jamieson. -- Dunitz, Street gallery, rev. 2nd ed., p. 60, #113.
