Description
Metamorphosis, North Hills, 1996. Noble Avenue Elementary School, exterior, 8329 Noble Avenue (at Roscoe Boulevard), North Hills. The mural uses the life cycle of the butterfly as a metaphor for the role of education in a child's life. "Born in the world a larva child. Into the chrysalis of education I go. Shrouded with knowledge I spread my wings and soar like a butterfly." (poem by Melinda Lewis). Acrylic on masonry, 12' x 63', by Alfredo Diaz Flores. Sponsored by Noble Avenue Elementary School. -- Dunitz, Street gallery, rev. 2nd ed., p. 155, #82.
