Title
Freedom won't wait, Los Angeles, 1992
Description
Freedom won't wait, Los Angeles, 1992, 54th Street (just west of Western Avenue). A powerful image addressing the feelings raised by the community uprising in late April 1992, in the aftermath of the legal verdict acquitting the police who were videotaped beating motorist Rodney King. The mural shows lynchings of the past and police brutality of today as history repeating itself. Sponsored by Social and Public Art Resource Center. By Noni Olabisi. In acrylic, approximately 15' x 25' -- Dunitz, Street gallery, rev. 2nd ed., p. 219, #52; photo on p. 205.
