Description
Windows on alcoholism, Santa Monica, 1980, C.L.A.R.E. Foundation, exterior, 901 Pico Boulevard (at 9th Street). Vignettes showing the unhappiness and destruction caused by alcoholism are portrayed in shades of brown and black on the mural's left and right sides. in the middle, an international family holds hands amidst a brightly colored optimistic landscape. The bottom carries the words, "The Courage to Change the Things We Can". In acrylic on brick, 60' x 16' by Ann Elizabeth Thiermann with assistance of Mike Kijak, Hal Briceland and others. Sponsored by CAC, Unitarian Church of Santa Monica and C.L.A.R.E. Foundation -- Dunitz, Street gallery, p. 150-160, #12 (photo on p. 160). According to a Google Maps Street View image the mural does not exist anymore (as of November 1, 2011).
