Photograph of a handful of people watching others sliding down a toboggan slope at Big Pines, ca.1928. A few people stand at the side of a toboggan trail, in front of a large brick house. At center, the trail in runs, and several people on the sled slide down it. The outlines of several other people can be seen at the top of the hill, while trees dot the landscape on both sides of the slope.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
